Updating the Camera Firmware from the Smartphone

You can use the basic app for smartphone to update the camera firmware.

  1. When a memory card is inserted in the camera, turn off the power of the camera, and then remove the memory card.
  2. Connect the camera to the smartphone via a wireless LAN.
  3. Start the basic app for smartphone.
  4. Tap [Settings] on the basic app for smartphone.
    • The [Settings] screen is displayed.
  5. Tap [Update firmware].
    • The firmware version of the camera is checked.
  6. Tap [Check the latest version].
  7. Follow the instructions on the screen to change the wireless LAN settings of the smartphone and connect it to the Internet.
    • The latest available firmware version is checked.
  8. Tap [Start download].
    • The firmware is downloaded to the smartphone.
  9. Tap [Transfer files to camera].
  10. Follow the instructions on the screen to change the wireless LAN settings of the smartphone and connect it to the camera.
  11. Tap [OK].
    • The firmware is transferred from the smartphone to the camera. When the transfer is completed, the update starts in the camera.
    • When the update is completed, the camera restarts.

Caution

  • When the battery level of the camera is low, charge the battery before updating the firmware.
  • Do not disconnect the wireless LAN connection between the camera and the smartphone while transferring the firmware.
  • When the storage space of the camera internal memory is insufficient, you may not be able to download the firmware. Secure the storage space of about 3 GB in the camera internal memory before updating the firmware. To check the free storage space in the camera internal memory, remove the memory card from the camera, and then connect the camera to the computer with a USB cable.
